1. Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, finance, or a related field. Professional insurance certifications would be advantageous.

2. Extensive experience in non-motor and non-marine insurance underwriting, demonstrating a proven track record of leadership and successful outcomes.

3. In-depth knowledge of insurance policies, various coverage types, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

4. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

1. Ensure thorough review of applications from potential policyholders to guarantee completeness and adherence to underwriting policies and guidelines.

2. Evaluate risk factors to ascertain their alignment with the client’s underwriting policies, accepting risks that meet established criteria.

3. Manage and scrutinize all insurance policies and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

4. Develop comprehensive insurance proposals for potential policyholders, determining appropriate premiums using established company methods.

5. Assess the company’s capacity to assume specific risk factors and provide guidance to the junior team on reinsurance treaty limits, terms, conditions, and treaty information changes.

6. Formulate underwriting policies that articulate predetermined criteria for assuming business risks.

7. Generate periodic operational risk reports for analysis by the management team.

8. Develop and update underwriting manuals to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.

9. Collaborate with the HR function to conduct performance evaluations for subordinates, propose salary increments, and recommend promotions.

10. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by Senior Management, contributing to the overall success of the underwriting department.
