As Head of Financial Lines, you will oversee strategy, underwriting, and performance for products like D&O, PI, Crime, and Cyber. The role involves leading regional operations, managing high-performing teams, and driving profitability across MENA and Africa, with a strong focus on technical expertise, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

- Bachelorβs degree in Business, Finance, Law, Insurance, (ACII, CPCU) preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of Financial Lines (D&O, PI, Crime, Cyber) and policy wordings
- 15+ years in Financial Lines underwriting within the insurance industry
- Significant leadership experience in complex underwriting environments
- Regional operations management experience, particularly in MENA and Africa
- Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Deep understanding of risk, controls, and regulatory requirements
- Proficient in digital tools, workflow systems, and performance analytics
- Effective stakeholder management and strategic thinking skills

Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
- Define and execute the overall strategy for the Financial Lines portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and risk appetite.
- Drive portfolio performance by optimizing profitability, growth, and diversification through strategic decision-making on risk mix and business direction.
- Identify new market opportunities, product innovations, and distribution strategies to expand the Financial Lines offering.
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitor movements, and regulatory changes to guide proactive strategic decisions.
Underwriting Management & Governance
- Develop and maintain underwriting frameworks, authority limits, and pricing models for all Financial Lines products.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight on complex underwriting decisions, ensuring quality, consistency, and profitability.
- Retain final underwriting authority for high-value or complex risks, making decisions within approved limits.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and market best practices across the Financial Lines portfolio.
Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and manage strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry stakeholders to enhance business partnerships.
- Lead business development initiatives to achieve growth targets and expand market share for Financial Lines products.
- Represent the company at key industry forums, client meetings, and negotiations, advocating for the companyβs value proposition.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments like claims, actuarial, and finance to ensure aligned business strategies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a high-performing underwriting team, creating a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Set clear objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and make informed personnel decisions.
- Identify team training needs and implement development programs to build technical and leadership capabilities.
- Promote a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation, learning, and knowledge sharing.
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare and present detailed reports on Financial Lines portfolio performance, including KPIs, trends, and projections.
- Analyze claims and loss trends to refine underwriting practices and improve risk selection.
- Contribute to budgeting and strategic planning processes, ensuring optimal use of allocated resources.
Implement changes to underwriting operations based on data insights, market feedback, and performance evaluations.
