We are looking to hire a Chief Underwriting Officer/Head of Underwriting for one of our insurance clients based in the UAE.

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering. An MBA/MSc would be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Exhibits the capacity to effectively oversee personnel and delegate responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in the industry, with about 5 years spent in a managerial

  • Establish and implement a technical strategic plan that is consistent with Company’s overall strategic plan.
  • Enhance the technical results of the company by maintaining sound underwriting practices.
  • Protect the financial position of the Company with secure and well-priced reinsurance protection.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate the underwriting and claims operations for all lines of business and branches.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to team members.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare quotes for significant and large prospective policyholders.
  • Participate in the handling of major insurance claims, including the evaluation and assessment of reports from external loss adjusters.
  • Evaluate substantial reinsurance proposals.
  • Establish and recommend significant operational and technical objectives and policies for the organization.
  • Develop and evaluate budgets and submit the department’s annual budget for review by the

  • Formulate policies and procedures for all departments and branches.
  • Advise the CEO on the status of various projects and initiatives undertaken by the Technical Department.
  • Assess the acceptability of risks, set premiums, and evaluate the company’s capacity to take on the risk.
  • Establish an underwriting policy outlining predetermined criteria for accepting business risks.
  • Analyze and review the current insurance markets and explore potential new markets.
  • Assist the CEO in defining the organization’s long-term objectives and the short and long-term strategies needed to achieve those objectives.
