Head of Reinsurance

One of our insurance clients based in Pakistan, is looking to hire a ‘Head of Reinsurance’ to be based in their Karachi Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in reinsurance, with a track record of progressive responsibility and leadership.
• In-depth knowledge of reinsurance principles, practices, and market trends.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to assess risks and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities to effectively interact with reinsurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills to lead and motivate a high-performing reinsurance team.
• Proficiency in industry-standard reinsurance software and tools.

Profile Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute reinsurance strategies to optimize risk transfer and ensure adequate coverage for the company.
• Collaborate with the executive team to establish reinsurance goals, objectives, and policies aligned with the company’s overall strategic direction.
• Identify potential reinsurance partners and negotiate favorable terms and pricing for reinsurance contracts.

• Preparing reinsurance renewal market presentations and presenting to reinsurers.
• Reviewing and updating the Insurance Commission’s Reinsurance Management Strategy.
• Negotiating and arranging reinsurance placements (treaty and facultative).
• Reviewing reinsurance programs to identify and report differences in conditions between risk cover and the reinsurance programs.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to proactively adjust reinsurance strategies as needed.
• Annually reviewing current reinsurance programs and program structures and evaluate alternatives, formulate options and recommend changes.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with reinsurers and brokers.
• Reviewing reinsurance contracts and document reinsurance arrangements in accordance with the Insurance Commission’s procedures and controls.
• Monitoring all finance related functions relating to reinsurance and underwriting including budgeting, reporting, payments, claim recoveries and debt management.
• Monitoring reinsurance claims administration including claim notification and facilitating recoveries.
• Monitoring administration of claims for the run-off of inwards reinsurance business.
